Interregnum News! Announcing our new Rector!
We are delighted to announce that our new Rector will be Rev Michael Broadley. He is currently Team Vicar at St Marks Horsham. He and his family are planning to move to Loughborough during the school holidays in August and he will be starting some time in September - date to be confirmed. Please pray for him and his family as they prepare to move and also for the congregation at St Marks as they prepare for an interregnum. You may like to use our Interregnum Prayer in your prayers.

Learning to Listen Course: Acorn Christian Healing Foundation - Starts 18 May 2010
This course is for anyone who wants to develop an awareness of good listening, acquire skills of active listening and an understanding of how these can be useful in everyday life at home, at work, within the church and in our local communities. The listening is three dimensional: listening to others, listening to ourselves and listening to God. Listening well to others improves the quality of our relationships; learning to listen to ourselves helps us grow in wholeness; and learning to listen to God helps us to deepen our spirituality. This is a course of four two and half hour sessions which gives a good introduction to the listening method. Because the learning is cumulative it is essential that people come to all four sessions. The venue - Emmanuel, Loughborough, LE11 3NW.
Tuesday 18th May 7:15-9:45 (Session 1)
Saturday 22nd May 9:30-3:30 (Sessions 2 & 3)
Tuesday 25th May 7:30-9:45 (Session 4)

Journey to Bethlehem Family Event
Journey to Bethlehem is an event that takes place in Emmanuel Church every year, telling the amazing story of the birth of Jesus Christ to local schools. This year, we're running a family event where you will be able to meet all of the main characters in the Bible story whilst taking part in a treasure hunt. The event is taking place on Wednesday 9th December at 5.30 - 7pm at Emmanuel. It's set to be a very special evening so please come along, have fun and hear the great news of the birth of Jesus Christ! The family event is being run by Emmanuel as a pilot and we hope that many adults and children will come and then give us feedback as to how it worked. Tickets are free and are available from Jenny Scott (07791271842).

Special Service For All Those Who Have Been Bereaved
This Sunday 15 November at 4pm, Emmanuel Church will be hosting a service for all those who have been bereaved. This short quiet service will include the opportunity to have the names of loved ones read out, if people wish. Anyone attending will also be able to light candles in memory of their loved ones. The service will be followed by tea and the opportunity to talk with a member of our Bereavement Team if people would find that helpful. Anyone is welcome to attend. Auction of Promises at St Mary-in-Charnwood, Saturday 10 October at 5 pm
Catalogues are priced at £4 for adults, 50p for children which includes a Ploughman's Supper. Available after the 9.30 am service. Everyone is welcome, so why not bring all your friends along for an enjoyable evening out.
Items that are up for Auction range from various homemade cakes to Return Train Fares and Theatre tickets in the West End for two people.

David Newman, Rector of Emmanuel and St Mary's, Loughborough, has been appointed as the new Archdeacon of Loughborough, one of two Archdeacons in the Diocese of Leicester. The archdeaconry covers the western side of the dioces including the towns of Loughborough, Coalville, Ashby de la Zouch, Hinckley and Lutterworth, suburban areas ot the west and south of Leicester, and many rural communities. He will be part of the Bishop's senior staff and involved with encouraging the mission agenda of the diocese, strategic planning, appointments, care of the clergy and buildings etc. David and Helen's last sunday will be the first Sunday in October.
David writes; "We've really enjoyed our time in Loughborough over the last twelve years at Emmanuel and St. Mary's, and you will all continue to be very much in our hearst (not to mention our archdeaconry) as we move on. It probably won't be a complete surprise to many of you that we are leaving as there comes a time when it's good for us to have a new challenge, and for the church to have a new leader who can take it on to the next stage of its mission. However there are rather a lot of staff changes at the moment, and I know some of you are concerned about that. I share those concerns and would have likde to organize it differently, but sometimes events don't always work the way we'd hoped or planned. So over the coming weeks we will be working hard to put structures and people in place to ensure that as much of the life of Emmanuel can continue during the vacancy, and it will be made clear who is responsible for what. In the meantime, let us pray for each other, that we would be given the grace we need to embrace the challenges of the coming months."

Loughborough Churches Partnership Prayer Time 9pm Tuesday 29 September 2009
Every Christian in Loughborough is invited to join in a time of prayer for our town on Tuesday 29 September at The Salvation Army in The Rushes, from 9-9:45pm. Meeting together, it’s a great opportunity to lift Loughborough to God, to seek His blessings and heart for our work together and to praise God for who He is and what He has done. The style will vary slightly month by month as led by people from different churches, but the time (9pm) on the last Tuesday of each month at The Salvation Army remains constant. All welcome.

Learning to Listen Course: Acorn Christian Healing Foundation - Starts 23 September 2009
This course is for anyone who wants to develop an awareness of good listening, acquire skills of active listening and an understanding of how these can be useful in everyday life at home, at work, within the church and in our local communities. The listening is three dimensional: listening to others, listening to ourselves and listening to God. Listening well to others improves the quality of our relationships; learning to listen to ourselves helps us grow in wholeness; and learning to listen to God helps us to deepen our spirituality. This is a course of four two and half hour sessions which gives a good introduction to the listening method. Because the learning is cumulative it is essential that people come to all four sessions. The venue - Emmanuel, Loughborough, LE11 3NW.
