In 1998 the Church received, by way of Deed of Gift, the Woodland surrounding the Church. As no maintenance had ever been carried out in the Wood, the Church sought advice from the Charnwood Wildlife Trust who prepared a 10 year plan to restore the Wood. The work included much replacement of poor condition trees with native trees and this is an ongoing process. Fencing has been replaced and a path made so that a walk through the Wood can be enjoyed. Seats have been provided and it is a superb resource if you wish some peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of life.
In 2001, the Church was a finalist in the Best Kept Churchyard in Great Britain Competition.
On the second Saturday of each month volunteers meet to work on the Woodland and grounds and new members are always welcome. The Woodland is much appreciated by many people, though much more work remains to be done to make it even more enjoyable for our visitors and Church members.
