John Buckland
Churchwarden
I was brought up in Middlesex, now part of Greater London. After leaving school I became a Brush student apprentice here in Loughborough in 1967. After four years I graduated having completed a thin sandwich course in Mechanical Engineering. I am married with two daughters both of whom are at school. I have worked at both Brush Electrical Machines and Brush Traction. In 1998 I moved to a generator manufacturer in Stamford for just over ten years before taking early retirement. I have worshipped at St. Mary’s since 1994, becoming a sidesman in 1995 and assistant warden in 2004. In 2009 I was elected warden. Among my interests are railways, photography, butterflies, industrial archaeology, walking and Hadrian’s Wall.
