Music for violin and piano performed by Eleanor Jeans, the current Director of Music at Emmanuel Church (violin) and Jeremy Kimber, her predecessor (piano).  Their programme will include the momentous yet popular Sonata for Piano and Violin by Cesar Franck and the world premier of a movement from one of Sim Walker's degree compositions: Deportation.  Sim, a member of Emmanuel Church, is in his final year as a music student at Leeds University.  Well known melodies arranged by Fritz Kreisler will complete the programme.

Commissioning Service with Eustace Constance from Ascension Trust , London, on Friday 16th May, 7.30pm at New Springs Church (entrance next to Devonshire Fisheries, opposite the cinema).  All Welcome.

Exam time is coming...  We’d like to get people praying for all those who’ve got exams this Summer.  If you’re taking Uni or college exams, A-levels, GSCEs or SATs and would like some one to pray for you sign up on the sheets on the Information Point. If you’re lucky enough not to be taking exams please sign up on the same sign up sheet by a students name and take down their contact details - then contact them and get the exam timetable, find out any they’re particularly worried about etc and get praying! And don't worry if all the students get taken, the more people praying the better!

If you've seen the signs, you'll know that from Monday 19th May part of the Forest Road is shut so that gas pipes can be replaced.  Although the Forest Road going into town will be shut, it will not be shut until after Emmanuel Church, allowing full access as usual (although after leaving the church most cars will have to turn right).  Work s estimated to take five weeks and is part of the M1 Gas Alliance.

We are pleased to announce that during Evening Praise on Sunday 8th June Joey Graver will be commissioned as our new Student Pastor. Building on her DNA and OnLine years, including her co-ordination of the student mentoring scheme and her leadership of iD: the new student community, Joey will now takeover from me day to day development, strategy and oversight of our work with students at Loughborough University, Loughborough College and the RNIB College. She’ll work the equivalent of two days per week, initially for nine months. The post is voluntary and was recently agreed by the Church Council.

 

Joey says, “I’m excited by this amazing opportunity to facilitate people going deeper with God during their time at uni or college. I see my role as helping to equip students for the challenges they face; not being afraid to face up to the difficult issues and knowing more of Jesus’ love.” Please do pray for Joey. During Evening Praise on Sunday 8th June (6:30pm), they’ll be an opportunity to be baptised or to reaffirm your baptism (recommit yourself to God) by full immersion in a special baptism tank. If you’d be interested in either being baptised or reaffirming your baptism, or would like to find out more please do chat with or e-mail David Newman, Helen Newman or Barry Hill.  They'll be a preperation time sometime in the week or two beforehand, so if you're unsure you'd be welcome to come to the prep time and then decide.  The service will also include a time of prayer and commissioning for students leaving the university or colleges this summer and will be followed by a little party - more details to follow...

The final concert of the tenth anniversary season.

A programme of beautiful music for piano and strings played, appropriately, by members of Emmanuel Church.  The programme includes Mahler's melodic movement for Piano Quartet.

Saturday 25th October, Students Union, doors open 7pm

Part of Hope 08 in Loughborough and in conjunction with the Loughborough Student Union Christian Union, we're pleased to be welcome Delirous? to Student Union for a special stop on their Kingdom of Comfort tour.
