Although from the exterior Emmanuel Church may look a typical dark, grey Victorian building, once inside you will find a light active, vibrant Church with a warm, welcoming congregation.
Since joining Emmanuel we have been leaders or members of various Housegroups and have found them invaluable for spiritual growth and for forming lasting friendships. When Alpha groups began we helped in various capacities and we feel quite strongly that Housegroups and Alpha play a vital part in a growing Church.
When we arrived in Loughborough we got involved in the re-development project at Emmanuel, which has made the Church so much lighter and given us so many useful facilities. Over the years we have been involved in many ways. Val looked after the planned giving for 9 years, Gordon did a spell as Church Warden and PCC and DCC member, we have also been involved in Senior Citizens Activities, prayer ministry and pastoral care and building maintenance.
Outside church activities, two of our interests are caravaning and travel so we attend other Churches and meet different congregations but it is always great to be welcomed back “home” to our own caring, wonderful, church family. There is some thing for every age range here, from a creche for the babies to Senior Citizens activities.
We have seen changes at Emmanuel and these have resulted in an increase in youth activities and many young families now attend our services which brings us great joy. We really appreciate being accepted so well by our younger friends and the realisation that we can contribute to some of the activities and be part of this great Christian community.
