We appreciate it can be difficult arriving in a new country, far away from friends and family, and so our hope is that Emmanuel can be a place of love, support and friendship for visitors from overseas as we explore more together of God.  Communities are one of the best ways of getting to know a small group of people well (click HERE for more).  If you are student from overseas please visit the special Students section HERE.    One particular place for you, however, is Open-House:

International & Multicultural Open-House

Open-House welcomes all visitors to Loughborough from overseas for a time of warmth and friendship.  It meets most Sundays from 2-4pm in the Emmanuel Church Centre lounge (directions HERE).

Loughborough can be a lonely place for overseas visitors, and Open-House, helps promote friendship between people of different cultures, nations, and ages ~ "a place where people from overseas are loved and accepted - where they can make friends in a safe environment". We welcome men and women of all ages, single and married, from all nations and cultures. Serving light refreshments to students, academics, employees and other visitors from overseas (including children), we relax, chat, play board-games, share news and views etc. We also arrange occasional quizzes, outings, meals and local walks. We trust that Open-Houe will enable better relations between people of different cultures, to the mutual benefit of all.

Open-House is served by ‘friendship’ volunteers from several local Christian churches who help to welcome newcomers, serve refreshments and generally mix-and-mingle with visitors, extending and encouraging friendship. Practising gifts of Christian hospitality! The group values the prayer support it receives through the ministry of Emmanuel’s ‘Ambassadors’ Community. As up to 40+ overseas visitors currently attend out meetings and we are seeking more committed helpers in this delightful ministry ~ we are also in regular contact with many, many more visitors to our town from overseas.
