Lunchtime Concerts take place at Emmanuel Church once a month on Thursdays. The 2010/11 season begins in October this year, details for which are at the bottom of this page. Each year we have a variety of concerts where our performers are schools, amateurs and professional musicians.

Before each concert light lunches are served. Come and join our increasingly large audience which enjoys these monthly concerts. Admission is free, but we do appreciate donations to cover the expenses of putting on each series.

16 February 2012 at 12.45 - Rachmaninov Epic

The programme for this concert is:

Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto Op 18 (with the orchestral part played by a second piano)

and his

Second Suite for Two Pianos Op 17

The pianists are:

Anne de Villiers

Sue Field

Jeremy Kimber

Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto is currently number 1 in ClassicFm's Hall of Fame. Rightly so!  It is full of memorable melodies as well as the virtuosic passages one expects in a concerto.

The Second Suite is less well known, largely due to the logistics of having two pianos in the same location.  the four movements are beautifully contrasted: the work begins with a majestic March, then follows a whirling Waltz and ravishing Romance and ends with a turbulent Tarantella.

Light lunches will be served from 12.00.
