We're still working out the finer details and are keen to recieve any feedback (use the online suggestion box HERE to let us know what you think), but here's the six current foundation values for Communitites:
1. Core Values
Communities are committed to our existing values: an inclusive, comprehensive church, shaped by the bible, committed to discipleship, concerned to proclaim the gospel in word and deed, expressing church in a variety of ways. View the full existing values of the whole church HERE.
2. Fellowship
Communities express the importance of sharing lives with each other. This means a commitment to openness with each other, caring for members, and the importance of the social dimension of the group.
3. Growth
Communities are always seeking to offer God’s welcome, eager for others to join, and clear and prayerful about their mission relationships.
4. Mission
Communities are intentional about mission, supporting their members in their work and service of the community, and engaging in some areas of service and witness together.
5. Size
Communities can be of any size, but when one exceeds forty to fifty people, it should look to multiply. Larger communities will split down into smaller groups for more intimate fellowship.
6. Accountability
Leaders of communities will be accountable to the Rector or someone designated by him from the leadership of Emmanuel for their own support and to hold to the vision and values. However they will have plenty of freedom to identify the aims of their community and further the community’s discipleship and mission.
