TBA (To Be Active) Community

TBA is a community for all ages and backgrounds. We meet twice a month on Thursday evenings. On the 1st Thursday of the month we meet as a big group at Emmanuel Church Centre, from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. On the 3rd Thursday of the month we meet in smaller groups in people’s homes from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Many people in the Community are already engaged in various social or outreach activities, so we seek to be a well for the love of God to flow into those. We also look out for opportunities to grow further activities which witness to that love and put it into practice.

How do we do that? Well, to be honest, we’re still finding out! We are sharing our experiences of God and learning how to share the joy and pain in our lives. We bring the challenges faced by those we know to the group and to God for prayer or practical assistance. We also laugh together! Above all we seek as an open group and as individuals to foster a trusting faith in God and to share that with others in our ordinary lives.

A typical Big Group TBA evening involves the following elements:

• Informal chat over coffee and biscuits

• Group discussion and input on a Life Issue such as Pain, Forgiveness, Love, Change, Hope, or a theme such as Prayer, Healing, Spiritual Gifts

• Sharing what’s going on in our lives

• Prayer

• Outward-facing activity – e.g. video on another organisation’s activities.

A typical Small Group TBA evening involves the following elements:

• Sharing a meal

• Follow up discussion based on the month’s topic, including Bible references and other sources

• Prayer and support for each other.
