Steve Adshead

Churchwarden

Steve began worshiping at Emmanuel over 10 years ago following a career move to Loughborough. He's been involved in the life of the church in a number of ways, initially attending an Alpha course, later leading an Alpha group, then starting a house group, and now as church warden. He writes, "It's a privilege to be part of Emmanuel, there are so many gifted people who contribute to the work of the church – both Sunday services and the many other activities through the week. There is a real sense of God at work here, and that's really exciting."

Veronica York
Churchwarden

Veronica has been worshipping at Emmanuel for over 20 years and for much of that time has been involved in the production of Spectrum, the parish magazine.  She takes pleasure in reporting the many diverse activities that go on in the parish.  Since retiring from full-time teaching, Veronica has enjoyed stewarding at church, helping with some of the Senior Citizens’ activities and serving refreshments for Little People.  She also belongs to the Emma Group and a house group.  In her spare time she enjoys walking, working on her computer and spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Stephen Barney

Reader

Stephen was first attracted to Emmanuel by something special in the Sunday morning worship. He writes, “It was as if I was taken to a different place. That was in 1992, since then, I believe, God has been seriously at work here, guiding and equipping his people for mission and to make a difference in the world. It has been a challenging and immensely nourishing journey. The great thing is that we try to unconditionally welcome all and seek to be inclusive in all we do. Sometimes, of course, we fail but we do want to be able to hear and learn, both from God and from each other.” Stephen’s current roles at Emmanuel are as a Church Warden and a Lay Reader (licensed to preach among other things). He retired from full time work in business a few years ago and is now involved with a number of Christian and voluntary organizations. He is also half way through a 4 year plan to walk the Pyrenees from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean coast.
